Andrew and Yvonne

been busy lately, have tonnes of things hanging, unattended. like what a close friend said: wish i can separate myself in 2. in my case, i'll need 3 or 4. then we'll make a great team... yummy. i have already started to imagine great things...

last saturday on the 6th of Dec i attended Yvonne and Andrew's wonderful wedding dinner at G hotel, penang. perhaps embarrassingly, it was actually the first time that i stepped into the hippest hotel in penang and also the newly opened new wing of the Gurney Plaza mall (piko outdated). here are some pics that i have managed to 'steal' on that night (considering i'm just a guest and not an assigned photographer)

^ nice pool, with little lights in the tiles that glitter like stars and overlooking the new shopping pedestrian below

^ from right is visual, amon-ra and me

^ no need explanation what they are doing

^ dressed up so nicely must snap lots of pics until the camera burns ma right?

^ of course quality control applies

^ you dun mess with the big sisters

^ its rare that i'm in a pic so... :)

^ santa must be busier this time of the year

i was enlightened by visual that the photographer was tee-too (sorry i'm a bit katak di bawah tempurung on certain things). more pics at my flickr album

and honestly i really hate to attend functions like this alone...

bokeh and noise and probably... orgasm

i have updated my flickr album for the recent Asian Beat competition (as mentioned in my last post). do visit the flickr album here

click to continue:

here are just a small few of my (other) fav shots of that night:

i covered the event with a 50mm prime lens, or fixed focal length lens or in layman terms: no zoom. it was going to be very difficult having no zooming convenience and it turned out exactly like i thought. instead of moving around on my feet, i found myself doing yoga poses near the stage. i wonder whether my 'show' was more interesting than the one on stage :P

back in front of the pc i then find myself falling in love with the noise generated from the high ISO i used on the night. i finally can accept how noise can actually contribute to the beauty and artistry of digital pictures...

now that's another tips to get orgasm ;)

nuts drove me nuts

i got out for work today, the sunshine was bright. it gently touched my tanned skin, it was warm and i liked it...

click to continue:

haven't been updating this for quite some time. should i be worried? i have no idea how many actually read this blog anyway. have you been waiting? just to update everybody, its been 2 weeks. too many, and too few things happened.

so, i'm just curious and wanted to ask, especially the ladies. who doesn't like milk choc balls? how about with nuts? it's been real long since i had some back in the days when they all came in square tin containers and only during chinese new years.

i was hunting at a supermarket the other day and found that this may be one of the best value for money choc you can get from the shelves. cadbury dairy milk milk choc balls in plastic container packaging that reminds me of mariah carey's oversized and cho-lo boobs. do ignore the fact that i have already indulged half of them as i write this but it looks something like this:

and ok, basically we have 3 type of nuts here. almond, hazel and ground nuts. my dear friend told me she dislikes 'mixed nuts' because it drives her nuts. she doesn't like the ground nuts. hehehe. i figure that i might be able to help her (and maybe some of you) to still be able to enjoy the contents of this wonderful bottle so here goes: a simple experiment to distinguish what you may get from that choc ball you are holding. look at the pic below.

ok my guess: the biggest one will be almond. no need to be too smart to figure this out. now, the more challenging part, hazel and ground nut. which is which? mu guess: left is hazel, right is ground nut. hazel is round thus should 'produce' a round choc ball, while ground nut is a bit oblong thus an oblong (duh!) choc ball. lets see... nobody mess with the piko...

ok i am humiliated by a nut. the "almond" turned out to be a stupid big ground nut. i have been humiliated by a nut. take that you nut! (swallowed the nut whole without chewing) uhuk uhuk cough cough. (from this moment on i had a grudge on ground nuts except against the ngan yin brand ones)

but piko is not to be denied! this is the largest choc ball i find and am sure the rest of the 2 will be what i think they are. here goes!

no need to be amazed by my brilliance. its an almond! heh heh heh *grins. now the second one will be a hazel. dont believe me?

you were warned. its a hazel. hmmmph. don't mess with the piko. next up! lets reveal the ground nut!

as you can see it looks like a hazel nut shaped ground nut. yes. yes. as you can see. yup.

so there you have it folks. i have just educated you on how to distinguish various kinds of nuts that hide in your milk choc balls. big big is almond, small got two shapes: round is hazel, slightly oblong is ground nut. good? good...

the conclusion: nuts drives me nuts (swallow all nuts without chewing!) cough cough!!!!

bubbles in a magazine

a couple of forum friends of mine broke the news about something that have excited me the same way something similar did about 15 years ago...

click to continue:

that exciting proudest moment was winning the first prize in the Dewan Pelajar's 25th anniversary (or was it 30? i cant recall properly) coloring contest... hahahah! well, actually no big deal right? ;)

so the latest equivalent was to have been enlightened that my picture has been featured in the Digital Camera Magazine Malaysia Edition for the month of October.

this picture of this pasar malam guy who played a toy bubble gun...

to feed your curiosity just in case, the picture was snapped at Batu Feringghi pasar malam (night market), Penang. i believe the night market should be quite famous to foreigners for all the right reasons. yes, i said "right". here are a few more pics of that encounter that may interest you...

the entire photo album can be viewed at my flickr set

well i do hope this will be a start of more wonderful things to come, things far greater than this. wish me luck. in the end it dawns to me that, its not me who was featured. it was him... that toy seller guy :) i seriously will pay him a visit to pass him a copy of the mag and buy a few of those guns... who wants to play with me? ;)

ps: i just got another good news. huahuahua. to be revealed later ;)
